Product End-of-Life Management: Discontinue a Product or Combination
Below are the three ways to discontinue a product or combination, helping you prevent overstock for end-of-life or limited-edition items.
It’s also useful when you stop selling through a specific customer or channel.
First Method: Using General Information (Combination Level)
To manage this information, first click the Navigator tool in the left pane, then select and go to the General Information tab of the relevant item. Start by clicking the Edit button to modify the life cycle data.
To discontinue the item, check the Discontinued checkbox, enter the end date, and then click Save.
Note: If your forecasts are not managed at the part-number level, this method allows you to discontinue a specific combination.
Second Method: Using the Product Life Cycle Editor (Product Level)
The Product Life Cycle editor allows you to discontinue a part number and all of its combinations (e.g, part number x clients).
Type in the Part number name or select from the dropdown. Enter the end date and click Discontinue.
Third method: Using the Data Upload Wizard
SKU Science allows you to discontinue products in bulk using two different processes, depending on the granularity at which you manage your data.
1. Discontinue at a Lower Granularity (Product / Combination Level)
Prepare your file
You can download our specific template from this Google sheet or from this Excel file. If you don't know how to copy a Google sheet, you can get help here.
Use the first tab when your granularity is part number only. In the below example, part number 00-1 will be discontinued end of December 2025. Please note that the 'End Date' signifies the first period where the forecast for the outgoing part will be set to zero.
Use the second tab when discontinuation applies to a specific combination (e.g. product x location). You may add additional columns if your granularity includes more than two fields.
In the below example, the combination 00-1 sold in Paris will be discontinued end of December 2025.
Upload the Product Life Cycle information into SKU Science
Click on the gear icon and select Data upload wizard.
Click on the Upload EOL button.
Select your file, and follow the wizard instructions.
Verify the date format.
Verify the mapping of your field, in this example we discontinue product 00-2 and all underlying combinations (if existing).
Click confirm to launch the upload process.
2. Discontinue at the Product level
Use this method when a product is discontinued globally, meaning it applies to all underlying combinations in your account granularity (e.g. all locations for a part number).

Impact of Product Discontinuation on the Forecast
Initial forecast for 033-2 London :
Updated forecast for product 033-2 after discontinuation in October 2025 :
The forecast baseline and the forecast consensus are set to zero beyond the product’s end-of-life date. Therefore, even if your item contains forecast adjustments, they will no longer be considered in the consensus forecast.
Displaying or Filtering Life Cycle Information
In the Navigator, you can display Life Cycle information by editing the view settings. Similarly, you can add Life Cycle data to a report by applying the same logic in the Reports tab.
In a Navigator view, Forecast Edition or Report, you can also filter your data to display only discontinued product forecasts. Click on Add filter, select Demand Forecasting, then choose Discontinued, and set it to true. If you are only interested in active products, just select false instead.
You can also filter your data based on the discontinued date to refine your selection before or after certain dates.
Note: The Product Life Cycle module is available starting from the Core plan. If it is not visible in your account or appears greyed out, please reach out to us via the in-app messenger.
